It's always a sad time when Christmas Day has passed but you can look forward to the winter sales for a bit of retail therapy.  This year has been a terrible one for rain and nothing else, and for what must have been the first time in absolutely ages, it rained on the big day.  Even now, on New Year's Eve as I write this, it's bucketing down and sounds completely rotten coupled with the howling wind.  I don't know about you but I don't want to venture outside unless I really need to, so it's great news to know that there's some excellent sales happening online.

I've been hopping about the web checking out my favourite shops to see what goodies have been knocked down in price, and I've not been disappointed.  Here's some of my top picks of the best lingerie and home sale items.

Cath Kidston has a select range of desirable pieces on sale.  I really want the useful and pretty Circle Ditsy Hanging Tidy.  It's good to look at and would store umpteen nick-knacks.
Was £18 Now £12

Bravissimo has a variety of sale lingerie, including a piece from their own gorgeous collection, the Bettie Mae Bra.  The colour is gorgeous and the plunge style would suit me extremely well.
Was £32 Now £25.50

I love Dotcomgiftshop for their vintage inspired goods, there's always something I have to have from their cute and quirky ranges.  The exclusive Pantry collection is so sweet and I'm excited to find there's some in the sale, such as this adorable Set of 6 Spice Tins.
Was £9.95 Now £3.95.
Matalan is really coming into it's own these days; their prices are reasonable and the quality really good.  The chic nude colour Metal Bow Purse is stunning and thankfully in the sale!
Was £8 Now £4

Figleaves Boudoir collection is something a little more special, like these Black Tie Lace Shorty knickers.  I love the generous lace with the wide satin band featuring a black tie, instead of a run of the mill bow.
Was £22 Now £17.60

Over at Leia Lingerie the beautiful Freya Martha Bra is finally in the sale!  Featuring soft fabric, pretty butterflies and a fresh aqua trim, this will be the perfect buy to take you into spring.
Was £29 Now £14.50

I always like to have a compact mirror in my bag (for when I get a rogue eyelash or random rabbit fluff in my eye!)  The Vicenza Heart Mirror and Photo Frame in the Debenhams sale is so cute and stylish.
Was £10 Now £5

I've picked up a few things in the sales including a wool skater skirt, studded sweater and these two buys which I thought were amazing value and so attractive.

I bought this make up bag from Boots in their half price Christmas catalogue sale for only £4.  I hadn't even noticed it before so I was taken by how pretty it was when I saw it.  It's from the Minnie Couture collection and is such a good quality peach case with chunky brass zipper.  The big black bow makes it look very chic too.  I'm using it to store my essential make up in.

I then found this awesome little shoulder bag in Primark.  It was the only one there still with the full price tag but at the checkout it was just £3!   It's a muted nude/beige colour with velvet black spots and brass clasp.  I found it a little too gaping when I put my purse in so I stitched the four corners where the strap ends meet the bag and now it's better and much safer.

There's so much good stuff in the sales right now, have you spotted a bargain?  Which shops would you say are the best to hit for the sales?

With 2012 drawing to a close, I can't help but think it's been a really quick year.  I turned 30 back in February, a milestone I'd long been dreading.  Now with only a matter of days before we toast in 2013 I look back and realise now it's not been as bad a year as I'd expected it to be.  I haven't suddenly aged, I haven't popped my clogs and the world hasn't stopped turning.  I've had tons of ups and downs getting to this point in the year and it hasn't been plain sailing, but it's not all been bad.  It's actually been pretty awesome in parts!  I think, without all the bad bits to go through we wouldn't appreciate the good as much.  A period of sour makes a moment sweeter.

I've been thinking about what I actually got up to this past year, so here's some of my 2012 I'd like to remember it most by.

1.  I modelled for Essentials Magazine.  I was asked to model for the hour glass figure shape and was printed on a full page when the magazine hit the shelves.

2.  My rabbit lost weight on the PDSA Pet Fit Club.  Bobby was the first rabbit to enter the famous competition and lost 800g of excess weight winning her highly commended (2nd) place.  Bobby's photos appeared in nationwide publications and worldwide on the Internet.

3.  I entered Sunday Sun newspaper competition, Miss Sunday Sun, and appeared in the paper.

4.  I was featured in CT Magazine, the publication for fashion lovers and industry insiders which launched this year.  I'm also loving my role as copy editor.

5.  I was a runner up in Freya's Blog Star competition.  I was gutted not to win but hugely excited and proud to have placed in the final.

6.  I was a Wonderbra Ambassador for the Haul of Fame campaign which was fronted by celebrity stylist, Sophie Stevens.

7.  I started to review lingerie on the blog and write about brands starting with Ohhh Lulu, although I officially started bra reviews in 2011 with my Youtube channel before I was properly fitted in the sizes I wear today.

My first official review in 2011

8.  I was properly bra fitted!  This was the year I found out I wasn't a 32F but a 28GG/H at Bravissimo.  The passion - or obsession - took off from there.

2013 doesn't seem so daunting now.  I don't have a scary birthday coming up and I'm hopeful about the aspirations I'm keen to fulfill.

I hope your year has been a positive one and I wish you all the best for 2013!

I hope you all had a joyful and peaceful Christmas Day followed by a relaxing Boxing Day (depending on whether you were nursing a festive hangover or hitting the rush of the sales).  I spent the past two days with various family including parents, siblings and little ones, so it's been a lovely time catching up, having a laugh and exchanging presents.  This year I had Christmas cakes and several handmade items on top of the usual bought gifts to dish out, so it's been equally nice to step out of the kitchen and pack my sewing machine away!  My parents loved the cushions I made each of them so it was definitely worth the extra effort.

I wanted to show you some of the presents I received.  My main gift from the other half was a new super zoom Nikon camera which I'm chuffed with.  After I've been able to play around with it I'm hoping to have better quality photos and videos from here on in.  Here's hoping, anyway!

A really cute 'ready to sew' Age style cooker doorstop - I can't wait to get making this!

Gorgeous vintage floral print boots - my new favourite footwear.

Gorgeous Molton Brown hand cream in a convenient tube for my handbag.

A blue leatherette floral print iPod case that I'm using to house my iPod Touch.

So these were some of my favourite gifts.  What did you get for Christmas this year?  Have you been enjoying the long holiday?  I can't believe 2013 is just around the corner!

Red lingerie must be the most gifted shade of underwear.  Not surprising, considering men love to buy it for their special woman in their life and women feel pretty darn good wearing it.  Red lingerie defines seduction and luxury and as such deserves to be given the gift wrapped treatment on more occasions than Valentines.  Being a fantastically festive colour, Christmas is the perfect excuse.

With only a few days to go until Christmas Day itself, now's your last chance to treat yourself or your special lady to some special lingerie.  Luckily there are many options for D cups and above.

These are my favourites for stunning Christmas gifts >

The gorgeous Dita Von Teese lingerie brand, Von Follies (which you can buy from Debenhams as well as other stores), stars the exquisite Red Eyelash Lace bra RRP £30.00.  This is a beautiful collection that includes knickers and suspender belt.  Sadly only up to a DD but I had just had to include this beauty!

Masquerade Rosetti is still on my list!  It's a beautiful design and flattering balcony shape.  RRP £40.

Wonderbra has released the Ultimate Strapless Lace in a vibrant red - perfect for a feisty feeling under your strapless party dress this Christmas!  RRP £36

Boux Avenue Alexus is a luxurious silk and lace treat, available up to a G cup.  RRP £30.00

Curvy Kate Wild bra is a unique design this Christmas featuring red satin, animal print and gold trimmings which work surprisingly well.  RRP £29.00

Cleo Marcie is a stunning bra in a true festive bold red.  RRP £25.00

Santa is bringing me this bra for Christmas and he allowed me to try it on specially for this post.  (Thanks Santa!)

I'm usually a 28H in both Freya and Masquerade, but I'm finding with Cleo a 28GG fits much better.  So, judging by my experience with Cleo's Meg in a 28H, I ordered the 28GG for the Marcie.  It fits perfectly!

The band is just how I like it, firm but not overbearing.  The back fastening is only double hook and eye but it works very well and isn't narrow.  The style is balcony which cuts nicely over my bust.  It's not full covering so allows a nice shelf of cleavage.  The straps are ribbed, which I love, and they're wide enough without looking frumpy.

I liken Marcie to Cleo's best selling Lucy.  The cup fitting is very similar with the same three sections and lace panel.  Where Lucy has flowers Marcie has spots which I love.  The centre bow also has the addition of a cute tiny button.  What's different in the bra structure is the band which continues around the whole bra beneath the under wiring, providing additional support to the front.  I think it makes it look a lot more attractive too.

I fell in love with Marcie ever since I first saw it online but I was wary about how it would fit considering some reviews I'd read.  My experience has been extremely positive which I'm relieved to report.  Something I had to do with my Cleo Lucy was amend the centre gore by stitching it closer together to fit my close set boobs.  I haven't needed to do this with Marcie which is just perfect.  The band is as I'd expect and the bra is just really good fitting; it looks good and feels great to wear.  I fully recommend you give this one a go!

Have you asked Santa for anything red this Christmas?  Or do you prefer another colour?

I've made it fairly obvious now that lingerie and small furry animals are both my passions.  Discovering new bra brands and going giddy at the sight of a new season bra is all very well exciting, but I have to admit that the sight of a cute bunny nose and pair of fuzzy rabbit feet will always tease a wider smile out of me.

Back in 2009 I had a photo shoot myself where I took along my rabbit, Bobby, and one of the guinea pigs called Beans (he didn't look like a bean, but when he was turned up on my doorstep one day he bounced around like he was full of beans!).  I love the pictures that were produced that day because it's the cute bundle of fur that is Bobby who steals the limelight.

I was wondering who else has had photos taken with rabbits before, their own or otherwise.  It wasn't an easy job but I did find some interesting images of famous names and faces we may recognise.

Katy Perry!  I have to admit Katy is my number 1 girl crush so I had to see if she had a rabbit.  Apparently she got this titchy bunster who she named Abracadabra when she was with Russell Brand.  I'd love to know whether she still has him.

This is Taylor Swift with a white rabbit I'm guessing was just a 'set prop', dare I say.  It would be cool if it wasn't, but he's a handsome bun all the same.

Ah, Paris Hilton.  The famous animal lover who means well but doesn't really have a clue.  This is her bunny Thumper.  She did 'rescue' 20 rabbits from becoming snake food although I'm not sure if Thumper was one of them.

I stumbled across this photo but I don't actually know who it is.  Do you recognise her?  The image looks very vintage, possibly from the 70s or maybe just made to look that way.  I'm intrigued to learn who this mystery beauty and her bunny is.

I have to admit I don't know who Stephanie Pratt is but I love Peta's campaigns and this one is gorgeous.  It's striking, pink and stars a beautiful gleaming white bunster!

This is fashion model Lisa Cant starring in this image with what looks to be hundreds of white rabbits.  Was this a photoshop job or were there actually this many rabbits on set?  Imagine the poops!

Cara Delivingne is such a rising star of the moment.  Her features are astonishingly unusual and captivating, but what's nice about this picture is diddy fluffy bunny with that adorable ickle face stealing the show!

And another of Cara, this time back stage of a show with a bigger, hunkier rabbit.  Cara's look is so versatile and changeable, here looking like a very young girl.  I really do like this photo and the rabbit is sooo cute!

This image of the beautiful Burlesque queen Dita Von Teese is classical and stylish.  I love her intricate face and silhouette, and the rabbit is handsome but I can't help but feel he doesn't look too happy in this photo.

Another eye catching Peta campaign, this time starring singer and actress Natalie Imbruglia.  Anti fur campaigns are close to my heart and this gorgeous rabbit does the advert proud.

I could hardly end a post about famous people and their rabbits without mentioning THE star of them all - Beatrix Potter with her pet rabbit, Benjamin.  She did have a childhood rabbit named Peter and this was who Peter Rabbit was inspired from.

Do you find rabbits too cute to resist?  Have you seen any photos that I've missed off the list?  Do let me know if you find any more!

I love spending time with my animals.  Guinea pigs and rabbits have been a huge part of my life for over 20 years, yet in all that time, as much as I mollycoddle them, I've never bought them Christmas presents.  That probably makes me sound incredibly hard nosed and selfish or, that I'm actually pretty sane and everyone who succumbs to pet stockings stuffed with rubber Christmas crackers are the crazies.  Either way, it's something I've genuinely never considered.

When Pet, Equine and Farm suppliers GJW Titmuss set a challenge to put together a virtual pet stocking to the value of £200, I decided it would be quite fun to make up a stocking for my bunnies, Bobby and Lucy.

This is what I would put in Bobby and Lucy's £200 stocking from the GJW Titmuss website >

The Cat Furminator, £34.99
This would be perfect for maintaining Lucy's long coat of fur.  As you can see, she's like a hairy teddy bear, and that's her after a hair cut!

Pink Vet Bed, £24.99
Vet Bed is the original and best fleecy pet bedding in my opinion and,  in baby pink, I'm sure my two girly buns would really covet this cute cosy to snuggle on.

Small Animal Kong, £5.19
Rabbits are easily bored and difficult to please.  This small animal version of the Kong would make a perfect addition to Bobby and Lucy's small collection of toys.

Luxury Sherpa Throw, £28.65
This would make a super fancy snuggle blanket for when I'm cuddling Bobby and Lucy.  Bobby has nibbled holes in their fleeces and this looks like sturdy quality to withstand naughty nibbles!

Clear Carrot Rabbit Bowl, £6.99
How swanky is this bowl?  Bobby and Lucy would feel like little princesses eating out of this designer chunky clear bowl decorated with 'frozen in ice' carrots.

Large Cat Combat Tunnel, £12.75
Rabbits don't just sit around in a cage, you know.  Not in my house, anyway!  Bobby and Lucy love playing, and since Bobby lost lots of weight on the famous PDSA Pet Fit Club this summer she needs to stay as active as possible.  This would be an awesome play tunnel for their room.

Nature Snacks Country Garden Herbs, £1.99
There's always time for a tasty bite in between playing and sleeping, and interesting, quality nibbles are important.  This packet of delicious herbs would be like a fudge for 'giving your kids a treat'.

Doggy Shack, £79.99
Bobby likes to sleep under her log arch while Lucy kips beneath a leather chair, but they do love to snuggle each other, and this wooden bedroom would be a cosy den for cuddly sleeps.
Veg Patch, £4.39
Everyone thinks rabbits just eat carrots, but the fact is it isn't healthy for them to eat carrots all the time.  (All that sugar, Bobby's watching her waistline, you know!)  This is a novel way for a carrot a day, plus it's a quirky game that'll entertain.  Bobby loves to throw her ball around, I'm sure she'll love to fling a carrot!
So this little lot comes to £199.93 leaving 7p from the virtual £200.  Bobby and Lucy would love to have these toys and home luxuries for real so we'll have to ask Santa Paws what he can do for them.  Bobby lost so much weight going from a wibbly 2.4kg to a svelte 1.6kg which has been an amazing accomplishment for my little lady.  And Lucy, well, she decided to make friends with Bobby this year and they're now the best of buds.  I think Santa Paws will be genuinely impressed this year!
