When Freya released their Beau collection in new colour lollipop pink several months ago it was a moment of lust at first sight.  I generally love hot pink so the sugary shade combined with the cute repeating bow design and striking embroidery really caught my eye.

When Beau first hit the market a year ago in neutral 'candy' shade I disliked it immensely - it looked drab in the most unappealing shade of pink ever, to my eye - so it just goes to show how colour plays an important role in your decision to like a product or not.

Despite marking 'lollipop' Beau balcony bra as my top must have on my birthday list back in February I never bought it, so when Large Cup Lingerie recently asked me if I'd like to review the set I was happy to oblige.  Freya Beau, come to mama!

I'm pretty consistent in Freya bras, mostly wearing a 28H but with the odd exception of the Deco where I can dubiously get away with wearing a 28GG, simply because it's not produced in the H cup (yet!).  I thought it was a no-brainer to request the 28H, on the contrary, it's become apparent this isn't the right size for me.  I think I'm currently in a funny between-sizes limbo.

The 28 band is snug, which I initially felt okay about as it seemed firm in a good way, but a few hours of wear into my day I was aware of tightness digging and nipping me, and I kept pulling the band away from my sides to give myself mere seconds of relief.  I was definitely stretching the band to its testing limit.  It wasn't looking good (and neither my skin).

Don't misconstrue my experience with the band for failure, as there were many attributes that impressed me.  How the cups completely and perfectly encased my boobs was a huge positive.  The large sections of embroidered sheer mesh fit like a glove, with no gaping or under fill like some other brands leave me with.  Although the shape isn't so rounded, more  pointed, it meant Beau felt and looked more natural.

The three hooks wide back fastening is also a strong point as it's more anchoring than simply two.

A pair of matching medium 12 briefs accompanied the bra in the Large Cup Lingerie parcel.  Featuring the same miniature bow print and front mesh panel, these knickers really came into their own.

They're amazing!  The back is ruched, which lends a more form fitting structure and the bum coverage is fantastic.  I hate knickers that disappear between your butt and these do not.

So overall, Beau is every bit the raspberry delight I'd hoped for.  The colour is cheerfully bright and the design cute.  I would love to find Beau in a 30GG as I suspect it would be a more comfortable fit, but until then, I can at least enjoy wearing the adorable Beau briefs!

Do you like the look of Beau?  Which colour way do you prefer or would like to see?  I think Beau would look super sweet in violet purple!  What do you think?

Our Spring took it's blooming time to get it's skates on!  Towards the end of April the sun started to show a glimmer of hope and it's probably safe to say now that the May bank holiday weekend officially declared that the warmer weather is back.  Me and Mr BB enjoyed a countryside walk right on our doorstep and it was just lovely feeling the warm  sun shine on my face.  The hedges and trees are sprouting with foliage and blossoms, daffodils line the roadside and the lambs are finally able to enjoy playing together.  This has got to be one of the best times of the year.

Updating my summer wardrobe I've realised I wear a lot of dark coloured bras which isn't very helpful when I want to be wearing my thinner tops.  I think bras have a time and place to be on show and I don't really like my undies spoiling a cool motif tee.  I seriously need some lighter colours and less padding for my warmer weather lingerie drawer.

If you're looking for something pretty and summery like me, you're in luck, as there's quite a choice this season.  Here's my favourite fuller bust offerings:

'Woozie' by Mimi Holliday

'Just Flew In' by Freya

'Ring o' Roses' by Bravissimo

'Polka Dot Satin' by Alexis Smith

'Bella' by Cleo

'Glossies Floral Frenzy' by Gossard

'3D Ptys' by Ewa Michalak

Decisions, decisions...

So, it's decided (I decided) that Mr BB and myself are overdue a spa day.  I haven't been to a spa for three years now and I've never been with the other half before, so to say we're overdue it is an understatement.  I'm looking forward to swimming in the pool, chilling out in a jacuzzi and sweating it out in a sauna, and some treatments would be rather nice too, such as a massage and a facial.  All that needs to be done is book up with the right spa package and, oh, sort out the issue that is wardrobe!

Champney's Springs in Leicestershire - ooh yes please!

With spas, it doesn't matter whether you're a swimsuit wearer or prefer a bikini, what's more important is making sure you choose the right one for you that makes you feel confident about yourself and importantly, comfortable.  After all, what's the point in worrying about ties coming loose when you're meant to be relaxing?

Not all swimwear is the same so it's wise to thoroughly fit and check out your suit before the big day.  These pointers might help you out:

  • Check your suit's not see through when wet (no nipples or pubic hair on show)

  • Ensure the bottom doesn't ride up between your cheeks.  No one likes a wedgie.

  • Can you can fasten fiddly ties or clasps yourself?

  • Boob slips can happen - prevent it!  Bounce and move around, do your boobs stay in place?

  • You don't want shoulder or neck pain from too tight straps - adjust to a comfortable tension now before you go.

Here are my top favourites of swimwear perfect for a spa day.  Hmm, which to choose?...

Freya 'Fever' Bikini Top

Kelly Brook 'Pink Rose' Bikini Top

Curvy Kate Moonlight Bikini Top

Lepel Capri Swimsuit
Figleaves, £38

And which did I choose?  The Freya Fever bikini!  I bought the gorgeous blue colourway from Leia Lingerie in a 28GG in the plunge style with medium brief bottoms.  It fits perfectly; the plunging cups are perfectly positioned and super flattering.  I was wise to order the 28GG as opposed to the H too as the cups are just the right size.  All I need now is my spa!

It's always an exciting time for a lover of lingerie to see the new season collections.  This Spring is no exception, with some pretty and fresh designs already making their way into the shops.  Colours are vibrant, marine inspired with hints of retro throw back in the form of polka dots and tartans.  This season is all about being girly and embracing the pin up in you.

Here's some of the hottest bras I've got my eye on.

Cleo 'Marcie' in Aquamarine D-J

Freya 'Totally Tartan' B-K

Panache 'Jasmine' in Floral Print D-K

Bravissimo 'Pretty As A Pin Up' DD-K

Boux Avenue 'Jenny' in Gingham - A-DD

Ewa Michalak 'S Fresh' E-GG

Which new collection have you got your eye on this month?

This competition is now CLOSED - winners announced soon!

It may be Day 5 of my blog's birthday giveaways but it's not coming to an end just yet!

I've worn and reviewed so many bras and knickers in the two years I've been writing this blog that I'm hard pressed to think which have been my favourite pieces.  There have simply been so many brands and styles I've enjoyed looking at and wearing.  One bra that does come easily to my mind happens to be the prize that today's brand has decided to award to the winner.  This bra in particular didn't just impress me ridiculously so when I first saw it in person, but has become my favourite go-to bra to wear since I got it.  It's the Freya Gem.

Freya Lingerie are simply one of the most desirable lingerie brands on the market in terms of their eclectic range of collections which enthrall and excite season after season.  Something so many large bust brands misconceive is the notion that if you have a larger bust you must want to wear something dowdy, and Freya buck the trend with their hot colours and quirky patterns.

Freya Lingerie are offering 1 lucky winner the tantilising Freya Gem Bra and Brief set.  To enter, simply complete the quick 'n' easy tasks in the Rafflecopter below.

In one week's time my 31st birthday will be upon me - yipee!  A time for indulgence, treats and personal gratification.  I like to milk my birthday for what it's worth and I allow myself guilt-free requests such as magazines, pampering, new clothes and anything else that takes my fancy.  Okay, it's not that different from the norm but it's always an enjoyable time never the less.  :-)

For a bit of fun I thought I'd look through the virtual shopping aisles and pick out my favourite lingerie and homeware pieces.  There's nothing quite like a bit of imagination splurging!

First to go into my birthday basket is the Freya 'Beau' bra set (28H) in the new colourway, Lollipop, due out February (how convenient?!)  When the 'candy' Beau came out last year it did nothing for me, in fact the colour made me dislike it.  Now it's going to be in this juicy, fruity pink colour, I love it!  I'm obsessed!
Freya 'Beau' collection in Lollipop

I love burning candles and my favourite brand is by far Yankee Candle.  I've been enjoying them for about twelve years now and I'm as yet to come across such quality home fragrances elsewhere.  Having sniffed a sneak peek of forthcoming scents I knew I'd want A Child's Wish when it comes out.  It's floral but really fresh and spring-like.

I think cushions are one of those things I'm pretty obsessed about.  I fall for cushions so easily and so often, my sofas and bedroom are a crazy mismatch array of cushions!  This cushion would definitely live in the bedroom: it's awesome.  The very Party Ring-esque Celebration Biscuit cushion by Sass and Belle.

Then I would be sure to throw in the Nadin bra set by Comexim.  The design and colours are so unusual but vibrant and girly.  I love it!  I've been afraid to buy overseas though as I'm not sure what size I'd need to order.

Comexim Nadin collection

Buying a new handbag is one of my favourite past times and Nica has regularly been my go-to brand.  I've lost count how many I've bought!  I just love the texture of their fabrics and the lovely colours they use.  I would love the shoulder bag from their Nica Play range in green.  Yum!

Some shades of pink can be a bit wimpy but when I saw this clock I was smitten with the hot pink.  I can't stop looking at this Acctim clock called Lorene.  The other half probably wouldn't be very impressed but I'd be thrilled to see it everyday!

As I'm a list freak (you wouldn't believe how many lists I have on the go at any one time) stationary is always of huge interest to me, particularly pads of paper and notebooks.  I didn't see this on Dotcomgiftshop until today: the pretty Vintage Doily sticky memo pads set.  I would so enjoy myself writing up my things to do!

I've been cross stitching for 15 years and recently taken to making cushions and little cute home decorations so storage for my needles and crafty tools is essential.  Currently my boxes are practical and far from pretty so it would be nice to have some attractive storage solutions.  Button It is so far up my street, I'm sure it was made just for me.  The gorgeous colours and covetable silver buttons make them absolutely yummy.  This hot pink polka dot sewing box would be perfect for my most important bits and pieces.  Mmmm, yes please!

Since Freya launched their moulded seam free bra back in 2009, Deco has become possibly the most prevalent collection available to the fuller bust market.  It's success has led the introduction of a variety of styles and colour ways over the years, providing wearers with unbeatable support and fit, and resolving solutions to common clothing dilemmas.  Plunge or half cup, strapless or multiway - even the recent addition of the moulded soft cup - along with matching briefs, shorts and thongs, Deco has the answer whatever you choose to wear and however busty you are.  From 28-38 for B-GG cups.

Staple colours black and nude are the fail safe options every woman should own and Deco's continuity shades, including charcoal grey, are available across the main Deco family.  If vibrancy is more your thing, Deco Honey provides bold fashion colours which follow suit with the trends.  This season sees the beautiful purple iris taking centre stage over last season's hot firecracker red.  The Deco Flamingo is a playful feminine version of the Honey styling, featuring a cute flamingo design print.

A step up from the perfectly wearable moulded bra is the new Deco Shape collection.  Boasting more advanced styling solutions including a multiway bra, strapless slip and strapless longline bra this collection is problem solving as much as it is pretty.  The delicate floral pastel detailing makes Deco Shape ideal bridal lingerie.
Freya Deco 'Shape'

So you can see, Freya's Deco really is something different and worth celebrating.  Freya have just launched Deco 365 - a brand new mini website dedicated to Deco which will stay online for a whole year, showcasing Freya's full Deco range.  Not only is it there to help select the right bra for you, there's also an exciting style competition where by uploading your own best fashion look you could win some fabulous prizes, including Freya lingerie and a £1000 shopping spree!

I uploaded my own outfit to the website which will be added to the style gallery.  You can enter and add your own photo here.

I was sent the 'nude' Deco plunge bra in 28GG which is an excellent all rounder, invisible beneath most clothing whatever the colour or fabric.   Personally I adore wearing colourful lingerie and I'm particularly keen to get my hands on the gorgeous 'iris' Honey.  The flamingo print will also be a really fun bra to take me through summer.  I would love to check these out as soon as I can!

Wow, first post of the new year!  Let me take this opportunity to thank you for supporting my blog and I hope you'll stick around for 2013.  The blog changed direction slightly and picked up it's pace pretty quickly last year, so I'm keen to progress and develop further, bringing you, my friends, some cool offers and incentives.  :-)

Even though it's January now and everyone's slowly opening up shop again, I'm hanging on to Christmas by it's last glittery thread.  My beautiful tree is still here standing proudly in front of me with my very retro paper chains still very much in place (bar the odd naughty one that keeps unfastening a loop and falling down.)  It'll all have to be packed away for another 11 months come the weekend, so it'll be very sad... and completely refreshing!  The house will suddenly look bare but so much more spacious!

If you're like me, reluctant to say goodbye to Christmas yet, or you just dread the grey and slow month that is January, Freya's Ivy collection is probably worth checking out.  Boasting colour and lace in firecracker red, glowing berries against a contrasting blue and green base of ferns, Ivy is the most festive nod to the season.

At first I wasn't sure if I liked Ivy, I couldn't decide if it was too brash, too full on.  But then I realised how clever it is and how well the colours work and actually brighten your mood.  Ivy isn't a Christmas bra but delivers the same feeling of the season - vibrancy and awe.

Ivy is the same construction and fabrication of Spring/Summer's Ellie.  I loved Ellie but ended up struggling with the size which was a 30GG.  I decided to try Ivy in a 28H, as I recently found fit success with 28H Freya Gem, and it's the best size.

I really like the fit; the balcony cups feel extremely supportive and encasing, and the three set hook and eye fastening was a good decision.  The straps are like a woven criss-cross pattern than the more conventional diamond pattern, and I prefer it to the latter.  I would like to see the straps a little narrower, as I can't help but feel humungously wide straps spoil an otherwise young and modern bra.  A couple of mms less in width would be interesting.

I got a matching thong with the bra in a size S which is about a 10.  It's easy to wear in a very light fabric and the red lace runs all the way around the waist band.

Does the colour of Ivy work for you?  Do you think it's too bright and in-your-face, or is it a welcome spirit lifter at this time of the year?
