I love bags and always carry one with me. I feel naked without one.  Having a bag was a natural progression from having my school bag growing up so when I was finished with school I moved onto an 'essentials' bag.  There's always so much I need with me such as my purse, phone, diary and not least a choice of lipbalms.

In a multitude of colours and varying styles I've always had at least one bag on the go.  I would go as far as saying my bag is a part of me, what it looks like reflects everything about me; my personality, my needs, and if my bag is shabby I too feel shabby.  Bags are a hugely important extension of me, not just an accessory, so when I tire of my bag and feel the need for a new one I take my time to make sure I get from it all I want and expect.

A typical shoulder bag has generally been my go to style for it's ease of transportation.  Grab bags, although often pretty and chic quickly become a nuisance, especially when two hands are not enough.  A style that has increasingly made an appearance in my bag wardrobe is the across body bag and, of late, the revival of the satchel.  And I have to say, the satchel is king of all bags.

Mulberry 'Alexa' - the connoisseur's choice of satchel

Satchels were once seen as the industrial behemoth used only for school books but in the last few years they've enjoyed a resurgence that's increased their popularity status as arm candy of choice on the shoulder of many a style icon.  As a thriver of colour, like a moth to a flame, my interest in satchels grew as beautiful shades and vintage patterns emerged onto the scene.  A staple shape + colour meant the satchel was redefined.

So why do I like a satchel?  They're uncomplicated, solid, functional and comfy.  Oh yes, comfort plays a hugely important role in the bag.  If I'm going to carry half my life around with me I don't want it to be a drag, and I equally want it to be accessible.  I've realised a regular bag requires taking off and plonking on a counter or chair which isn't always convenient.  A bag at the end of a long strap and/or across your front makes life so easy and easy works for me every time.

Seeing as we're talking bags an' all I may as well introduce you to my newbie; my spring pastel trend embracing pale blue ASOS satchel.  Isn't she a pretty?!

ASOS light blue satchel - mine!

Yes, this is my new favourite bag. Until the next itch, of course...

In one week's time my 31st birthday will be upon me - yipee!  A time for indulgence, treats and personal gratification.  I like to milk my birthday for what it's worth and I allow myself guilt-free requests such as magazines, pampering, new clothes and anything else that takes my fancy.  Okay, it's not that different from the norm but it's always an enjoyable time never the less.  :-)

For a bit of fun I thought I'd look through the virtual shopping aisles and pick out my favourite lingerie and homeware pieces.  There's nothing quite like a bit of imagination splurging!

First to go into my birthday basket is the Freya 'Beau' bra set (28H) in the new colourway, Lollipop, due out February (how convenient?!)  When the 'candy' Beau came out last year it did nothing for me, in fact the colour made me dislike it.  Now it's going to be in this juicy, fruity pink colour, I love it!  I'm obsessed!

I love burning candles and my favourite brand is by far Yankee Candle.  I've been enjoying them for about twelve years now and I'm as yet to come across such quality home fragrances elsewhere.  Having sniffed a sneak peek of forthcoming scents I knew I'd want A Child's Wish when it comes out.  It's floral but really fresh and spring-like.

I think cushions are one of those things I'm pretty obsessed about.  I fall for cushions so easily and so often, my sofas and bedroom are a crazy mismatch array of cushions!  This cushion would definitely live in the bedroom: it's awesome.  The very Party Ring-esque Celebration Biscuit cushion by Sass and Belle.

Then I would be sure to throw in the Nadin bra set by Comexim.  The design and colours are so unusual but vibrant and girly.  I love it!  I've been afraid to buy overseas though as I'm not sure what size I'd need to order.

Buying a new handbag is one of my favourite past times and Nica has regularly been my go-to brand.  I've lost count how many I've bought!  I just love the texture of their fabrics and the lovely colours they use.  I would love the shoulder bag from their Nica Play range in green.  Yum!

Some shades of pink can be a bit wimpy but when I saw this clock I was smitten with the hot pink.  I can't stop looking at this Acctim clock called Lorene.  The other half probably wouldn't be very impressed but I'd be thrilled to see it everyday!

As I'm a list freak (you wouldn't believe how many lists I have on the go at any one time) stationary is always of huge interest to me, particularly pads of paper and notebooks.  I didn't see this on Dotcomgiftshop until today: the pretty Vintage Doily sticky memo pads set.  I would so enjoy myself writing up my things to do!

I've been cross stitching for 15 years and recently taken to making cushions and little cute home decorations so storage for my needles and crafty tools is essential.  Currently my boxes are practical and far from pretty so it would be nice to have some attractive storage solutions.  Button It is so far up my street, I'm sure it was made just for me.  The gorgeous colours and covetable silver buttons make them absolutely yummy.  This hot pink polka dot sewing box would be perfect for my most important bits and pieces.  Mmmm, yes please!
